Barcelona vs Cadiz | Barcelona will look to make it four straight La Liga victories when they travel to struggling Cadiz on Saturday evening.
The visitors are coming off a 5-1 win over Viktoria Plzen in the Champions League on Wednesday, while Cadiz was defeated 3-0 by Celta Vigo in the league last time out.
Cadiz earned a return to La Liga by finishing second in the Segunda Division in 2019-20, 12th in the top flight in 2020-21, and 17th last season, securing another season at this level.
Last season, Sergio Gonzalez’s side defeated Barcelona 1-0 at Camp Nou, and they are unbeaten in their last four La Liga meetings with the Catalans, including a goalless draw in the corresponding game last season.
Barcelona, on the other hand, is on a roll right now, having won 5-1 over Plzen in the Champions League on Wednesday, with Robert Lewandowski scoring a hat trick at Camp Nou.
The Catalan club began their La Liga campaign with a goalless draw against Rayo Vallecano, but they have won their last three league games, defeating Real Sociedad 4-1, Real Valladolid 4-0, and Sevilla 3-0, to move into second place in the table, one point behind Real Madrid.
Barcelona struggled last season, but they appear to be ready to compete for major trophies this season, and it will be interesting to see how Xavi’s team performs against Bayern Munich in the Champions League next week.
With the arrival of Lewandowski, the team now has a genuine world-class performer at centre-forward, with the Poland international scoring eight goals in his last four appearances for the club.
Barcelona will be aware that their margin for error in La Liga is limited due to Real Madrid’s quality, and while Cadiz’s recent record against them is impressive, it would be a surprise if the Blaugrana dropped points in this game, with the team clicking into gear since the stalemate with Rayo almost a month ago.
Cadiz's First Goal Against Barcelona
Robert Lewandowski scored a hat-trick in the Champions League in midweek, adding to his five league goals in the first four games of the season.
The Polish forward is in excellent form and can be backed to score first, ahead of Ansu Fati and Ferran Torres, both of whom are available.
Veteran striker Alvaro Negredo is the cheapest-priced player for the hosts, while young Honduran international Anthony Lozano is available.
Preview of Cadiz vs. Barcelona
Barcelona has kept two clean sheets this season, both against teams that are likely to be near the bottom of the table, Rayo Vallecano and Valladolid.
Cadiz has put in some poor performances this season, and their most recent home game saw them completely outclassed by Athletic Club, losing 4-0.
