On the second day of the Commonwealth Games 2022, weightlifter Mirabai Chanu will compete in the hopes of winning India's first medal of the games.
The Commonwealth Games started on July 29. The Indian badminton team beat Pakistan 5-0, with PV Sindhu and Kidambi Srikanth winning their matches. The Indian women’s cricket team lost to Australia. Shiva Thapa won his men’s Round of 32 boxing bout against Pakistan’s Suleman Baloch.
The Indian women’s hockey team defeated Ghana while in aquatics, 14-year-old squash player Anahat Singh made a winning start in the women’s singles competition, and the Indian women’s table tennis team registered a 3-0 victory against South Africa.
The focus for day two will be on weightlifter Mirabai Chanu and if she can help India win its first medal of the games.
