England vs Iran Highlights

In the opening Group B game of the Qatar World Cup, England crushed Iran 6-2 with goals from 5 different scorers.

In the opening match, England vs Iran, England defeated Iran with six goals, including one from Bellingham, Saka, and Sterling. Saka scored twice more in the game. Grealish and Rashford completed an impressive victory in Doha; Iran’s two consolation goals came from Taremi.

The 3 Lions got things rolling with a goal from Jude Bellingham (35) & after goals from Bukayo Saka (43) & Raheem Sterling (45+1). They had a three-goal edge at the break.

Saka added his 2nd goal for England in the 2nd half with another brilliant finish (62), but Mehdi Taremi’s goal for Iran was a jolt for Southgate’s team (65).

With just his 3rd touch (71) after entering the field, substitute Marcus Rashford added a fifth goal for England & another substitute, Jack Grealish, added a 6th (90).

There was a blemish right at the end when referee Raphael Claus has prompted to inspect the pitchside monitor after John Stones was determined to have pulled Taremi’s shirt. However, Taremi didn’t lose his cool in response to the penalty, sending Jordan Pickford the other way.

Despite Iran’s late goal, Southgate’s team raced to the top of Group B. Southgate has faced some criticism due to his team’s poor run of form going up to the tournament.

England vs Iran | Richards: ‘England deserves all the credit!

“I believe England deserves all the praise. It has been great from the beginning. First, the keeper’s injury led to a short stop-start play. Then, going from defense to midfield to attack, they found a second gear.

“Yes, we scored two sloppy goals, but the team was outstanding. I also enjoy the tactical part involving Bellingham. In his role as the number eight, he has improved. It was a touch deeper and more of a 4-2-3-1 in the second half, and they gave Foden and Grealish access to the ball.

Player Of The Match – Bukayo Saka

Bukayo Saka’s final touch for England at a significant tournament resulted in the worst moment of his professional career. Still, against Iran, he demonstrated that he came to the World Cup with no baggage.

The Arsenal winger, a favorite of Gareth Southgate, demonstrated why he won over players like Phil Foden, Marcus Rashford, and Jack Grealish by scoring twice.

Bukayo Saka can be relied upon to support his full-back while also bringing balance to the England attack with his left foot cutting in from the right. His opening goal, a stunning volley that brushed the underside of the crossbar and sparked England’s tournament into life, at the Khalifa International Stadium made all of that clear.

He demonstrated his coolness in the second half by cutting into the box and finding the bottom corner while giving the Iranian defense frequent cause for concern.

Saka, who is only 21 years old, has the knowledge and self-assurance to take a leading role for England in Qatar.

England Great Hit at the World Cup Again

England (6-2) won their 1st game at a significant event (World Cup/EUROs) with the biggest win of all time & they scored six or more goals for just the 2nd time in their history over Panama in the World Cup 2018 (6-1).

For the 1st time in their history, England had two players aged 21 or underscore in a single World Cup game and goals from Jude Bellingham – 19 years old & Bukayo Saka – 21 years old.

In his 10th World Cup appearance, Raheem Sterling scored his 1st goal of the tournament in his 16th game for England.
