Portugal vs Nigeria - FIFA World Cup 2022 Warmup

During a FIFA WC Warm-up on Thursday in Lisbon, Portugal defeated Nigeria 4-0, with goals from Bruno Fernandes twice in the first half, Goncalo Ramos making his debut, and Joao Mario. In Cristiano Ronaldo’s absence due to a stomach bug, Fernandes led a formidable Portugal team in their final game before leaving for Doha on Friday (Today).

The one unexpected development was the debut of Antonio Silva, a 19-year-old defender for Benfica, who began in place of Pepe while the veteran was recovering from a protracted injury.

In the ninth minute, Joao Felix found Diogo Dalot, who set up Fernandes to score into an empty net while being encouraged by a packed Alvalade stadium. In the 35th minute, Portugal extended their advantage with Fernandes’ penalty kick after a Bernardo Silva pass struck defender Bright Osayi-Samuel in hand.

Fernandes quickly converted the penalty kick to give Portugal their third consecutive double. “Perfection didn’t exist, or at least it’s challenging to achieve, But we made a tremendous game, dominating every level,” Fernandes said.

After this victory, we have a lot of confidence going into our debut game against Ghana. We have a terrific collection of young, ambitious players who understand that we are a team and that it is not about them individually. So we’re prepared for the World Cup.

In the second half, coach Fernando Santos made six substitutes. Ramos scored Portugal’s third goal just after the goalie saved an Emmanuel Dennis penalty after the video assistant referee (VAR) saw Dalot’s foul in the 81st minute.

Post Portugal vs Nigeria Match

Cristiano Ronaldo interview with Piers Morgan Part 2 – Problems at United, leaving Old Trafford, Messi.

Future at United?

Later, Morgan questioned the Portuguese international about his future with United. Right now, it’s hard to say because my mood is so focused on the World Cup. But, of course, this is my fifth World Cup, so it’s probably my last.

I can’t tell what will happen after the FIFA World Cup 2022, but as I have stated and will again, the fans will always hold a special place in my heart. And I sincerely hope that they are still by my side, whether I return, do not return, remain, or do anything else. Nobody is flawless. Life’s ups and downs are a natural part of being a person, and being a human and a father is a natural part of me. I’m going to make mistakes forever. But because I’m concentrating on the World Cup and the Portugal national team, it’s difficult to predict what will happen to the World Cup.

Cristiano Ronaldo - On retirement

“I need to play two years more, three years more. Then, after that, I want to finish at 40, a good age. But I don’t know. You never know what’s going to happen.”

Ronaldo on Messi

He is an incredible player. He’s magical, top. Imagine that we have shared the stage as a person for 16 years. I, therefore, get along well with him. I wouldn’t call myself his friend in that sense; instead, I would describe myself as a teammate to the guy who spoke on the phone with you when you were with him in your home.

I genuinely appreciate him for the way he always talks about me. Even though they are from Argentina, they always respect my wife, his wife, and my girlfriend. Argentina is home to my girlfriend. Very good. What will I say regarding Messi? a fantastic individual who contributes significantly to football. Being a part of the same team, many shirts would be sold through us!
