The match began with South Africa winning the toss and electing to bat first. South Africa batted first and lost De Kock for seven runs in 2.1 overs.
Janneman Malan then paired up with Reeza Hendricks to assist South Africa in recovering from an early defeat.
Malan walked back to the hut for 25 runs off 31 balls, breaking their blossoming stand. However, Reeza resumed his attack with the bat.
He and Markram put on a vital 129-run partnership for the third wicket to keep their scoreboard ticking.
Reeza Hendricks, who appeared to be in good form, was removed after hitting 74 runs off 76 balls with nine fours & a six in the 32nd over.
Later, Markram and Klaasen established a 46-run partnership for the fourth wicket.
South Africa’s innings sped up after the pair hammered Indian bowlers over the ground.
Heinrich Klaasen scored 30 runs off 26 balls, while Klaasen went all out, scoring 79 runs off 89 balls with seven fours & one six.
Finally, Parnell and Miller combined to push Proteas to 278 runs after their dismissals in the 38th and 39th overs.
Miller’s deadly form enabled him to go undefeated on 35 runs, while Parnell cameoed for 16 runs off 22 balls. India’s Mohammed Siraj took three wickets for 38 runs with the ball.

Shreyas-Ishan's Match-Winning Knocks Did The Trick For India
As a response, India got off to a shaky start, losing openers Shikhar Dhawan (13 off 20) and Shubman Gill (28 off 26) early after the chase, leaving India at 48-2 in 9 overs.
Then came a glimmer of hope for India as Vice-Captain Shreyas Iyer teamed up with Ishan Kishan to rebuild India’s innings after wickets were lost.
Ishan Kishan demonstrated his worth by smashing 93 runs off 84 balls in an innings that included four boundaries and seven sixes.
On the other hand, Shreyas Iyer overcame all odds and scored his second ODI century.
The pair joked about the Proteas’ bowling performance, smashing them around the field to sew a magnificent 161-run third-wicket partnership off 156 balls.
Ishan was dismissed in the 35th, while Iyer remained unblemished on the crease. In 46 overs, Iyer and Sanju Samson led India over the line.
Shreyas Iyer remained undefeated on 73 off 69 balls in an innings that featured 15 fours. Sanju also played his role, staying undefeated at 30 runs.
Three Proteas bowlers returned with one wicket each, while the remainder went wicketless. The series’ third and final match will be on Tuesday.

Shreyas Iyer’s second ODI century and Ishan Kishan’s flashy 93 made India joke about South Africa’s 279-run mark in the second ODI at Ranchi’s JSCA International Stadium Complex on Sunday.
