Babar Azam | Pakistan captain | New Zealand vs Pakistan Highlights
I would like to thank the team for their performance. The ball started brilliantly, and the death over, in particular, was excellent.
The batters were terrific, particularly the middle order, which performed their job admirably.
Nawaz and Haider are playing brilliantly. Step up is what you want the middle order to do.
I don’t believe so because the wicket performed similarly in both innings (whether he regretted chasing on seeing the pitch).
We have enormous confidence as a team heading into the main event and aim to keep it going.
Kane Williamson | New Zealand captain | New Zealand vs Pakistan Highlights
This was a fantastic game. Pakistan is a formidable opponent. They did an excellent job of shifting the momentum in their favor. We were disappointed.
I suppose you always want 20 more runs, but the wicket was on the lower side, and we’ve played well this series. It is to Pakistan’s credit that they hit the ball well.
There is no one to blame (for Sodhi’s 25-run over). It’s a game of razor-thin margins. Even if you opt for an over, you’re not far from altering the game in your favor.
That conviction is critical for us. Pakistan is an excellent squad. It was wonderful to contribute; obviously, you want a couple more and to be on the winning side, but it felt fantastic.
I probably got a par total, I would have liked a few more, but Pakistan’s death bowling was extreme. Throughout the event, the guys all performed admirably in their respective positions.
Michael Bracewell | Player of the Series | New Zealand vs Pakistan Highlights
This accolade makes me very happy. But it’s a shame we didn’t get the winner’s medal today. I’d been practicing in the nets and was ready to bowl in the powerplay. Bowling for Rizwan and Babar was intimidating, but I liked it.
Mohammad Nawaz | Player of the Match | New Zealand vs Pakistan Highlights
I only supported myself when I batted yesterday and today. I felt confident in my abilities in whatever practice I performed in the nets.
I batted in the middle order throughout my domestic games, which aided me.
The way Haider Ali played gave us momentum, and when Sodhi arrived, I decided to go at him since I was hitting with the wind.
He (Haider) pushed certain limits, so I took risks.
In terms of aim and speed, Nawaz and Haider look the part. Pakistan will be ecstatic as the World Cup approaches.
New Zealand will be sad – losing at home always stings a little more – but they have a good group, and we’ve all seen how they can surprise ICC events.
Best wishes to both sides for the T20 World Cup.
