El Clasico, the rivalry between Barcelona and Real Madrid, is one of the most legendary in all of football. Real Madrid and Barcelona both have a great past. Super365 previews predictions, team news, and possible starting lineups for Sunday’s La Liga match between Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Real Madrid vs Barcelona: Football Preview

On Sunday afternoon, one of the football calendar’s greatest matches will occur at the Bernabeu, with Real Madrid hosting fierce rivals Barcelona in the current El Clasico.

Both teams have 22 points after eight games in the 2022-23 La Liga season, with Barcelona leading the standings due to their better goal difference.

Real Madrid was too strong for Barcelona and the rest of the opposition in La Liga last season, finishing 13 points ahead of the Catalan giants at the top.

The championship fight will be much tighter this season.

Carlo Ancelotti’s team has won seven and lost one of their eight league matches this season, totaling 22 points.

The number is insufficient to sit atop the table, indicating the level necessary to finish at the top in 2022-23.

Real Madrid’s only loss came at home to Osasuna on October 2.

They returned to winning ways in the league last weekend, defeating Getafe 1-0 before drawing 1-1 with Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

Ancelotti said that he was upset with his team’s performance in the European encounter after the game.

The point was enough for the defending European champions to clinch their place in the competition’s knockout phase with two games to spare.

Real Madrid will play five more games before the end of the month, taking on Barcelona, Elche, Sevilla, and Girona in Spain’s top division, as well as RB Leipzig in the Champions League.

Los Blancos have won four of their past five league games against Barcelona, although they were defeated 4-0 by their bitter rivals in the equivalent encounter last season at the Bernabeu.

While Real Madrid has quickly advanced to the knockout phase of the Champions League, Barcelona will have to battle hard to avoid missing out on the last 16 for the second year in a row.

The Catalan club’s 3-3 draw with Inter Milan on Wednesday night dropped them to third place in Group C, three points behind second-placed Inter, who only need to beat Viktoria Plzen at home next time out to join Bayern Munich in the knockout phase.

Barcelona’s Champions League form has been dismal, although they have been unbeaten since beginning the 2022-23 season with a goalless draw vs Rayo Vallecano.

Barcelona has not won La Liga since the 2018-19 season, which is astonishing given their recent success.

Their whole emphasis may shift to the league if they fail to qualify for the next round of the Champions League.

Andriy Lunin has anticipated remaining in goal.

Antonio Rudiger has expected to return after sustaining a horrific head injury when scoring his side’s equalizer against Shakhtar in the Champions League.

Real Madrid will not be at full strength owing to Courtois’s potential absence, but there are no surprises among the ten outfield players, with Federico Valverde poised to start the right side of a front three.

Jules Kounde is likely to make a timely comeback from injury for Barcelona, with the Frenchman slated to line up in the center of the defense with Eric Garcia, replacing Gerard Pique.

Frenkie de Jong is a possible replacement in midfield, but it appears that Sergio Busquets will join in a midfield three by teenagers Gavi and Pedri.

Barcelona Will Wear Drake’s Owl Logo This Weekend

The upcoming El Clásico encounter between rival Spanish football clubs Barcelona and Real Madrid is scheduled for this Saturday, during Drake’s month of October.

Spotify, the major Barça sponsor, is using the occasion to highlight two of its most successful assets: Champagne Papi, already the most streamed musician of all time, recently became the first artist on the platform to exceed 50 billion streams.

Barcelona will wear a limited-edition OVO uniform during the game.

On Sunday, players will wear unique October’s Very Own jerseys on the field, with Drake’s trademark owl insignia replacing the streaming giant’s for one clásico only.

(In March, Spotify became FC Barcelona’s front-of-the-jersey sponsor, resulting in a name change for the club’s renowned Camp Nou stadium, now known as Spotify Camp Nou. The match on Sunday, however, will take place at the Santiago Bernabéu in Madrid.)

In addition, to commemorate the 50 billion streams, the squad will warm up in training jerseys with the number “50” on the back before the game.

“For the first time in our history, we are replacing our primary sponsor’s name on the front of the shirt with a globally recognized musician, Drake,” Juli Guiu, FC Barcelona’s vice president of marketing, stated in a news statement.

“This effort demonstrates our ability to become a one-of-a-kind platform for providing experiences that bring us closer to our followers while also reaching out to new audiences worldwide.”

“This doesn’t feel real, but it is,” Drake, a nondenominational sports fan, posted on Instagram about the jersey (and the 50 billion streaming).

In terms of Drizzy’s streaming platform allegiances, while he’s always been a statistics powerhouse for Spotify, he notably inked a groundbreaking blockbuster contract with Apple Music when the service opened in 2015.
