Team India in Asia Cup 2022 Super Four: India can still qualify for the final of the Asia Cup 2022 Super Four if the results of the upcoming matches work in its favour.
Rohit Sharma‘s Indian cricket team lost to Dasun Shanaka‘s Sri Lankan team by 6 wickets in the 3rd match of the Asia Cup 2022 Super 4 stage at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Tuesday, September 6.
Now, India’s chances of qualifying for the final of the tournament depend on the results of the other teams.
The Men In Blue lost their Super 4 round opener against Pakistan by 5 wickets after failing to defend a target of 182 runs on Sunday, September 4, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Upcoming Asia Cup 2022 Games
- Pakistan vs Afghanistan in Dubai on September 7, Wednesday
- India vs Afghanistan in Dubai on September 8, Thursday
- Sri Lanka vs Pakistan in Dubai on September 9, Friday
- Final on September 11, Sunday in Dubai
The Men In Blue will need to rely on other results in the tournament to make the final, after their defeat against the Lankan Lions. First, they will need Afghanistan to beat Pakistan on Wednesday.
Then, they will need to register a dominant win over Afghanistan on Thursday by a large margin to ensure they have a good Net Run Rate.
India's Qualification scenario for the Final of Asia Cup:
– Afghanistan beat Pakistan.
– India beat Afghanistan.
– Sri Lanka beat Pakistan.
– NRR should be greater than Afghanistan and Pakistan.

India wants Sri Lanka to beat Pakistan in their final Super 4 stage game. This would give Sri Lanka 6 points, and India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan 2 points each. Net Run Rate (NRR) would then be used to decide the tie-break, and the team with the best NRR would qualify for the final.
If Pakistan beats Afghanistan on Wednesday, India will be eliminated from the tournament.
