We won 12-0, and I scored 9 points!’ – Armando Broja’s incredible story about leaving Tottenham hotspur F.C. for Chelsea. Armando Broja impressed on loan at Southampton in the Premier League last season.

Chelsea forward Armando Broja has revealed the unbelievable story that led to him leaving rivals Tottenham to join the Blues.

Last season, the 21-year-old Albania international impressed on loan at Southampton in the Premier League, scoring six goals in 32 games.

Broja has been given a chance at Stamford Bridge this season and has already played in six games across all competitions in 2022-23.

Broja returned to the west London club in 2009 after a two-year stint in Spurs’ academy, and he made his Blues debut in the 2019-20 season.

Armando Broja told The Players’ Tribune about his decision to join Chelsea from Tottenham:

‘I remember going to a game.’ The Tottenham scout came here specifically to look at another boy.

‘I happened to play well that match, and I received prime goalscorer and best participant in the match, so they approached my mother and father before I knew about it.’

‘So, when I got here again, my mother and father said, ‘Tottenham came to see us,’ and I was thinking, ‘Who’s Tottenham?”

‘Because I was younger, I didn’t know anything apart from my Sunday league group.’ So it was just Burnham Juniors in my head – that’s all I knew!

‘So they were like, ‘Oh, Tottenham is in the Premier League, and I was like, ‘oh wow.’ I want to go, ‘ I said.

‘He loves Chelsea, so in my head, I supported Chelsea; however, I was unaware of the rivalry between Tottenham and Chelsea, so once I became a member of Tottenham, I had no idea what to expect.

‘When I was at Tottenham, I supported them, but I always wanted to beat them because I wanted to show the Chelsea staff and everyone there that I wanted to be a part of Chelsea.’

‘I was on the bench, begging my coach to let me come back on, ‘please let me; we’re down 2-0.’

‘As soon as I came on, I received a help, and then I got a goal, so we drew 2-2.’

‘We then moved to the opposite side of the pitch and performed the opposite group.’

‘I believe we won 12-0, and I scored nine points.’ Following that, two Chelsea guys visited and said, ‘wow, we wish you were here.’

‘When they said I didn’t care about the rest, I just wanted to join Chelsea.’

‘So that happened & I joined Chelsea at the end of U9s, beginning of U10s, so I’ve been there since then.’
