She scored six goals in Europe despite only making seven starts and once again reached double figures in the league as Lyon won the championship.

Beth Mead received the Golden Boot and Player of the Tournament honors after helping England’s Lionesses win their first-ever major tournament.
She is another player whose campaign for the Ballon d’Or ranking has focused on their accomplishments at the Euros.
The 27-year-old was unplayable throughout the summer and, as a result, has put herself in contention for the major individual awards with six goals and five assists from only six games.
That’s not to say Mead didn’t have a terrific season for Arsenal; in the Women’s Super League, only two players had more goals and assists than she did.
But the Gunners won no championships, making her case for the Golden Ball less compelling.

Last season, when Wolfsburg won two titles and advanced to the Champions League semi finals, Alex Popp had some standout performances.
They were few and far between due to injury, which limited her to just 15 appearances across all competitions.
She prepared herself for the Euros in plenty of time. When Lea Schuller has sidelined with COVID, she immediately stepped up to fill the starting center forward position for Germany.
The 31-year-old was spectacular as she scored six goals in just five games to advance her nation to the championship game to get Ballon d’Or nomination but was injured and unable to compete.

The Australian set numerous records while scoring 20 goals in 20 league games, winning three domestic titles.
Her double on the final day of the WSL was extraordinary, helping to turn the game around for Chelsea to win the title.
Even though Sam Kerr did not compete in any significant event this summer and her team failed to qualify for the Women’s Champions League in the group stages, Kerr nevertheless had one of her best personal campaigns to date.
